Dynamic New Office Encourages Connection and Collaboration

Nov 5, 2024

Morgan Stanley’s newest workplace in Mumbai brings together 8,500 staff in a space with cutting-edge design and unparalleled experiences.

Featuring a cricket net, a childcare center, thoughtfully curated work from local artists and delicious food with dietary options for all, Morgan Stanley’s newest Mumbai office will inspire a lot of buzz about its amenities. But for the leadership team that has spent more than five years planning and building out the space, making the Commerz III building within the International Business Park, Oberoi Garden City, a reality in Goregaon East, the most exciting feature is how the building illustrates Morgan Stanley’s commitment to integration and collaboration among the firm’s employees in Mumbai.

Anahita Tiwari, Head of Morgan Stanley’s India Global Centers, says, “The new campus provides a curated and seamless experience for our people, through modernized and diverse work settings, enabling a sense of belonging for all. We are excited to welcome employees into a new world-class office facility with campus amenities, fostering wellbeing, productivity and retention.”

A New Home for Morgan Stanley in Mumbai

Our new office is the latest chapter of Morgan Stanley’s workplace evolution in locations around the world, aligning dynamic and efficient workplaces with the needs of Morgan Stanley’s business, brand and culture.

Built for Employees’ Needs

The building has been designed to enhance employees’ experience before they even come through the door: Commerz III is located beside a Metro line and the Western Express Highway, offering a variety of options for the commute. There is a dedicated childcare center onsite that is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., ensuring convenient, quality care. Moving upward from the expansive lobby, the first level features a range of amenities, including a gym and a health center, social hubs for gathering and socializing on every floor, and terraces that allow employees easy access to the outdoors. Food halls on the first and fifth floors pay homage to India’s food culture with delicious options from around the globe, designed to accommodate various dietary needs. Gathering areas encourage people to socialize during meals. Throughout the building, employees can enjoy thoughtfully curated artwork from local artists, while Commerz III’s anticipated LEED gold certificate lets employees know that Morgan Stanley is taking extensive measures to protect and preserve human and environmental health.

Workspaces have also been designed to meet employee needs, with the latest technology and adjustable desks for sitting or standing. The building and workstations are accessible and flexible and follow international guidelines to accommodate people with special abilities. These workplace standards reflect Morgan Stanley's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, as well as supporting all employees. Commerz III also has large training rooms that will facilitate both in-person and virtual training.

Most fundamentally, the building has been designed for connection and collaboration. Bringing together employees who currently work in a number of different offices will make clear the sheer size and scope of the firm's regional workforce. Facilitating interactions will have a positive impact on mentoring and apprenticeships, as well as allowing employees greater learning and development opportunities. This approach aligns to the Firm’s workplace evolution in locations around the world, aligning dynamic and efficient workplaces with the needs of Morgan Stanley’s business, brand and culture. By optimizing real estate, technology, people and culture, the ongoing workplace evolution is helping people to perform at their peak.

Better Together

Collaboration is key to delivering the very best of the firm to our clients and stakeholders. Our new Mumbai office brings together employees from three campuses under one state-of-the-art roof to foster connection.

Morgan Stanley’s Future in India

In addition to the building’s statement about Morgan Stanley's commitment to employees, Commerz III also underscores how India is an integral part of the Firm’s regional and global strategy.  Arun Kohli, Country Head for India, Morgan Stanley, said, “This significant investment underscores Morgan Stanley’s commitment to our employees. India plays an integral role in the Firm’s performance and as a center for exceptional talent. The new office campus provides a modern workplace experience that fosters a sense of community while enabling them to drive innovation and deliver results.’

In advance of the Commerz III inauguration on Nov. 5, 2024, some employees have already started working in the office, and reactions from team members have been overwhelmingly positive. This state-of-the-art office will continue to inspire collaboration for years to come.
