When she moved from Jamaica to America at fourteen, Rebecca Powell never imagined she’d work for Morgan Stanley. She discusses being a Financial Advisor and Morgan Stanley’s commitment to diversity.
When she was 14 years old, Rebecca Powell’s family moved from Jamaica to the United States. She believed “money grows on trees,” in America, but quickly learned how hard her parents worked to support a family. They instilled in her the same strong work ethic, which would later give rise to her professional accomplishments. When she started working for Morgan Stanley, Rebecca saw that the firm was genuinely committed to diversity. She saw it in her colleagues as well as in the support she received when she wanted to start her own local group dedicated to diversity. She helped launched the Multicultural Council and continues to make a difference.
