Biography

Mona Benisi is Executive Director, Head of Sustainability for Global Real Assets. Mona works alongside the private Infrastructure and Real Estate (Equity and Debt) investment teams to develop and execute sustainability strategies across North America, Europe and Asia.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2020, Mona was the Global Head of Sustainability for Simon Property Group and a member of the Corporate Sustainability Office at Siemens Corporation in Munich, Germany. Mona has also held roles with the Environmental Defense Fund and Columbia University’s Earth Institute. Mona previously served as the Chair of NAREIM’s Sustainability Committee and the Chair of NAREIT’s Real Estate Sustainability Council. She has been recognized for her leadership in the field as an honoree on Crain’s New York Notable Leaders in Sustainability list in 2024, as a winner of the Women in Sustainability Leadership Award in 2021, and as the recipient of Environmental Leader’s “Person of the Year” Award in 2018.

Mona received a B.A. in International Business from Georg-Simon-Ohm University in Nuremberg, Germany and a M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University in New York City.
