Morgan Stanley Appoints John Coulter as South Africa Head

Morgan Stanley today announced that John Coulter is joining the Firm as Managing Director and Head of Morgan Stanley South Africa.  Reporting to Walid Chammah, Morgan Stanley’s Co-President and Chairman and CEO of EMEA, Coulter will be responsible both for growing Morgan Stanley’s franchise in South Africa and for overseeing the development of Morgan Stanley’s business across sub-Saharan Africa.

John Coulter has over 20 years of banking experience from JP Morgan, where from 1999 – 2005 he was Chief Executive of JP Morgan South Africa, and from 2004 - 2005 Chairman of Investment Banking for Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (CEEMEA), based in Johannesburg.  He also held a number of other senior positions with JP Morgan in both London and New York.  He was most recently Group CEO of Brait, a leading South African private equity and alternative investments firm.
